Samuel Wolfreys

Samuel was our first born and a very special child.  He had an easy temperament and a beautiful smile.  He was white blond with pale eyebrows, pale blue eyes and looked like an angel.  He filled our lives with joy.

We have very special memories of him and the joy that he brought, just as we have of our other children of course.  One that springs to mind is of him stealing chopped up vegetables from the saucepan, as I prepared dinner, with a mischievous smile.

It was difficult for us to come to terms with the fact that his development was reversing, as is common with metabolic diseases, and to get the doctors to understand, and finally to admit that he was dying.  How can your child die so young?

I would like part of his tribute to be the poem that I wrote for him after he died:

                   Sam

Sweet love and happiness you gave to us,

Although only with us here for a short while.

With pale blue eyes and white blonde hair,

A perfect vision with a perfect smile.

Such a happy child, never far from our side.

Easy infectious love you taught us all,

Adoring people, checking attention with a grin so wide,

A kind and loving nature was your way.

We will all miss you more than words can say,

And our love goes with you from this Earth –

May you find the peace and happiness you so deserve,

Your memory will stay with us always.

And from the ones who loved you the most –

From Mummy who held you in your final breath …

Night, Night Sam, see you in the morning.

This tribute is to celebrate our time with him on earth.
