Continuing our blog series of fundraising ideas, today is brought to you by the letter C!
Whether you’re a first time or regular fundraiser, we all need a little inspiration sometimes. So, to give you a helping hand, we are putting all of our favourite fundraising ideas together in a handy series of blog posts!
Cake Sale – Cake is most definitely never a bad thing! So why not gather a few friends and test your baking skills by cooking up some traybakes, muffins, scones and multiple layered cakes? You can sell all your bakes for donations. Plus, you could even hold a competition for the best show-stopper cake and sell this off at your very own cake auction! You can find some great low-protein baking recipes for your cake sale on the Nutricia website, here.
Catwalk Show – Fancy yourself a fashionista? Why not create your very own catwalk and invite a few friends to come and be the stars of a modelling show! You could sell tickets for your catwalk show. And if you’re feeling even more creative, you could get everyone to create their own clothes for the show and sell these outfits at the end! To raise a few more pennies, you could offer refreshments after the show and clothes sale.
Craft Class – Are you skilled at a particular craft? Why not hold a craft class for your friends and family, and get them to pay a donation to attend your class? To raise further funds, you could offer refreshments after the class, as well as selling some of your own hand-crafted products.
Crufts Competition – If you love dogs and have a few friends who are like-minded, why not round them up and have your own Crufts competition? Get dogs and their owners doing agility tests and partaking in different category competitions. Remember, you can make up the categories as well. Categories could include “the most mischievous dog”; “the greediest dog”; “the best doggie smile” – no categories are out of bounds! Donations could be gathered from entry fees for your competition. And, you could hold a doggie and human afternoon tea afterwards, with treats for both counterparts available!
Coffee Morning https://www.lowproteinconnect.com/recipes/?category=Desserts- Get your daily caffeine fix by hosting a coffee morning for charity. Charge your friends and family to come over for a coffee, and potentially a cheeky slice of cake or a cupcake. After all, what is coffee without cake?! You can find some great low-protein cake recipes on the Nutricia website here.
Co-Working Meet-Up – Do you work freelance and want to meet some other people in a similar situation? Why not hold a co-working meet-up at your house to give you the chance to mingle with other freelancers and network? You could then charge for this meet-up with all the proceeds going to charity.
Cheese and Wine Night – The French knew what they were doing when they created this combo! Cheese and wine is divine together. And, why not invite other people to discover this by hosting a cheese and wine night for charity? Everyone can come along and pay a donation for the night, and you could hold a raffle or auction for guests, whilst they’re there. To cater for those on a low protein-diet, you can buy low-protein Violife cheeses from multiple stores and a variety of websites to make the cheese tasting fun for everyone involved!
Challenge Yourself – Set yourself a challenge. This could be giving up chocolate or alcohol for a month; running a race; or doing a certain number of hill walks in a month. Whatever the challenge, get people to sponsor you to achieve it!
Some of these activities are great as stand-alone events, and some can be run together to support a bigger event.
We hope this post has given you some food for thought! All of your fundraising is very much appreciated and helps us to continue our vital work to raise awareness and provide bespoke support to those affected by Inherited Metabolic Disorders.
